Medical Definition of Sense strand
1. The strand of DNA which is used during transcription to make mRNA. The mRNA made thus has the sequence of the antisense strand of DNA, and it codes for a sense strand of polypeptide (which eventually becomes a protein or part of a protein) during translation.
